CeCe and the Yellow Brick Road

All Dorothy wanted to do was go home. CeCe Harper feels sort of the same. The Virginia native and San Antonio transplant had college offers from close to 50 schools from almost every major conference in America. The word among a lot of the suitors was that CeCe was a lock for staying close to home. Not San Antonio or Virginia home, but the home that her high school teammate and housemate had chosen. CeCe decided to break a lot of coaches hearts and join Monica Engleman at the University of Kansas.

It has been well chronicled on here that the Harper family took Monica Engleman in as one of their own and helped raise her over the past few years. Madison High coach, Tracy Hastings was the beneficiary of their kindness. The Maverick tandem of Engleman and Harper provided the best 1-2 punch in the city. The Jayhawks obviously took note.

Apparently, the decision was not as automatic as some of us presumed. CeCe had a monster summer and her list of offers became very impressive. Schools like Texas, Miami, Seton Hall, Central Florida, are just some of the school that have been putting a full court press for her services. CeCe had a wish this week; she wanted to take a nap. Easy enough right? Not when your telephone will not stop ringing with head coaches from all over the country calling you constantly. While she can get some shut eye now, her decision has undoubtedly caused some sleepless nights for the coaches who wanted her so bad and the coaches who have to face her for the next four years.
